Balance is often overlooked for flexibility and weight loss. These yoga workouts for beginners to improve balance will help shift your perspective! #yoga #avocadu

There are so many reasons why we love yoga. It’s a yummy exercise practice that increases strength, supports weight loss, and relaxes you all at the same time!
Perhaps the best reason why yoga is so awesome is one that’s often ignored. It can help us with our balance in a way that most other exercise routines can’t.
So how can wobbling on one leg like a drunk stork help you in any way, whatsoever?
Balance poses take a serious amount of concentration to stay in, even the simple ones. You have to find your center of gravity and focus all your attention on staying in alignment.
If your thoughts stray from the task at hand, you tip over!Balance poses will keep you in the present moment, which can create a sense of calm that you might not be able to achieve doing anything else.
When you first start doing them, they can be frustrating because when you fall out of a pose, your ego can throw some serious shade. When you can’t stay in a pose, it can make you feel like you don’t have control, and most egos don’t like that.
The first time you hold a balance pose for the entire time can feel incredibly empowering. You’ve gained mastery over your mind and body for a little while, which is a huge accomplishment!
You can bring that mastery and the mind/body connectioninto anything you do, including finding the willpower to stick with a weight loss plan.
YouTube is a treasure trove of yoga routines that will help you with your balance. You can practice at home for free, and no one but your cat will see you tip over.
Let’s take a look at 5 different yoga workouts for beginners to improve balance!
  1. Balancing Flow: Yoga with Adrienne

Adrienne is that cool girl that everybody wants to hang out with. She’s nerdy and occasionally sings 80’s anthem rock, which is really endearing.
All her videos make you feel completely supported in your practice, and this one is no different. She shows you a few ways to move into a balance pose effortlessly and without pressure.
If you’re completely new to yoga, this is a great place to start. There aren’t any super challenging poses, but she moves through a few different levels of difficulty for you to try.
She also makes you feel like it’s not only okay to feel like a dork when you fall, but you should have fun doing it. You care a little less about how you look when practicing, and more about the practice itself.
Adrienne also has a really great 30-day yoga challenge for beginners, which is where I personally started my practice!
  1. Hatha Yoga for Beginners with Melissa Krieger: Better Balance

This balancing practice with Melissa Krieger is the most relaxing of the five, but still includes some challenging balance poses. There’s beautiful music playing in the background, and it’s a slow-paced practice.
Don’t let the soothing piano and Melissa’s warm, calming voice lull you into a false sense of security, though. You’ll still get a good workout and great tips on keeping your body in alignment with your center of gravity.
Grab your yoga blocks or a chair for this one because most of the balancing poses are done while standing.
